Stephens Reclamation Project, Calloway County, Missouri

VetWSS executed the reclamation of 38-acres of this former surface coal mine in the Fall of 2017.  The work consisted of regrading about 230,000 CY of coal/soil overburden, creating three water control structures, and constructing an access road.  Once the material was graded it was treated with limed to raise the pH and then straw was deep tilled into the subsurface to create a soil that would grow grass.  Finally, the area was seeded and covered with straw.
